Where the desert meets the sea, the Baja California peninsula is an often-overlooked part of Mexico. Wild spaces reveal prolific bird life, marine mammals, and stunning scenery on this itinerary, which visits two UNESCO Biosphere Reserves. The mountains of Sierra de la Laguna Reserve shelter many endemic species of plants along the trails. The desert islands of Espiritu Santo Reserve in the Sea of Cortez are rich with marine life and birds.
Kick off the adventure with cooking and surfing lessons in Todos Santos. Then stroll diverse landscapes, swim with sea lions, kayak along coves, and sleep under canvas steps from the ocean as you explore the natural bounty of Baja.

Arrive into San Jose del Cabo and head for the colorful town of Todos Santos on the Pacific coast, where your surf instructor will help you catch some waves Sample local Mexican flavors and learn to cook a few classic dishes.

Stroll among diverse plants and animals at Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere Reserve, taking in the beautiful coastal and mountain views.

Explore the mangrove forests and barrier islands of Magdalena Bay by day boat, where gray whales gather during calving season (January–March) and you may encounter sea lions, turtles, and other marine life.
6 – 7
Head for Espiritu Santo, where you’ll stay in a tented camp right on the beach Kayak, swim, snorkel, visit nearby islands, bird-watch, and hike this incredible reserve.
8 – 9
Return to Todos Santos for a celebratory dinner and last look around town before departing for the airport in the morning.
